May I never lose the wonder,
The wonder of the cross.
May I see it like the first time
Standing as a sinner lost,
Undone by mercy and left speechless,
Watching wide eyed at the cost.
May I never lose the wonder,
The wonder of the cross.
Behold the God-man crucified,
The perfect sinless sacrifice.
As blood ran down those nails and wood,
History was split in two, yes,
History was split in two.
Behold the empty wooden tree,
His body gone, alive and free.
We sing with everlasting joy,
For sin and death have been destroyed, yes,
Sin and death have been destroyed.

Summer events
It would be very unlikely that you are unaware of the major events of this summer. Having celebrated and enjoyed the Diamond Jubilee, we now look forward to the Olympic Games in London, being held in the UK for the third time. This event is held every four years, the pinnacle for many sports and competitors, as they prepare to give their very best. For many Christians the enduring story of Eric Liddell is an inspiration, winning a gold medal in Paris but giving up athletics to go to China as a missionary. May we all follow the example of the athlete that Paul gives us and run our Christian race to get the prize that lasts for ever.

News
The Diamond Jubilee Event on 5th June went very well with many local people responding to the invitation to come along. It is our prayer that many will return to Bethany and we will have the opportunity of sharing the gospel with them. It was good day and we thank God for prayers answered.
The Prizegiving service was appreciated by all who attended. The review of the session was uplifting as we observed the growth and progress of the children in learning the scriptures, as well as their enthusiasm to take part. We were also grateful for the message from Alistair Young. Pray for the Summer Sunday school for both children and leaders.

Tribute
It was with great sadness that we learned of the passing of David McAlpine last month. There was a fitting Thanksgiving Service held in Bethany led by Iain Robertson. There were tributes from the family that described David so aptly. We also sung the hymn, Oh Love that will not let me go, that David cherished and requested many times. We greatly appreciated his testimony for the Lord Jesus at Bethany and will miss him. Please remember Ella and the family in your prayers at this time.
Mission Focus
The focus last month featured a visit and report by Allen Price of Emmaus UK who told us of the work and the Bible Study courses available.
Camp Correspondent
Two camp events were held in June last month, an evening at Lapwing Lodge and the camp coffee night at Dimity Street with both being a success. Camp 2012 finally begins this month on Monday the 16th of July with the Camp heading to Blaithwaite House in the North of England for the first time. There are many items of prayer including transport, weather, safety, leaders and campers and most importantly the message spoken by Iain Cunningham at the services.
