What's on

Church Ministries

You and me we use so very many clumsy words.
The noise of what we often say is not worth being heard.
When the Father's Wisdom wanted to communicate His love,
He spoke it in one final perfect Word.

He spoke the Incarnation and then so was born the Son.
His final word was Jesus, He needed no other one.
Spoke flesh and blood so He could bleed and make a way Divine.
And so was born the baby who would die to make it mine.

And so the Father's fondest thought took on flesh and bone.
He spoke the living luminous Word, at once His will was done.
And so the transformation that in man had been unheard
Took place in God the Father as He spoke that final Word.

And so the Light became alive
And manna became Man.
Eternity stepped into time
So we could understand.

Behold a Son

It is all too easy to miss the point of the remembrance of the birth of the Saviour, with so much to do and so little time to achieve it. God is faithful, His promises are true, and they never change. He promised to send the Messiah and the Word did indeed become flesh and dwelt among us. With such a great truth let us take the opportunity this Christmas time to share the Lord Jesus Christ. It could be a life changing experience for many people this year, as there are some friends and acquaintances that will be more receptive to the Christian faith, as they consider His birth.

Christmas

There will once again be many events going on In Bethany this month, with all the Church activities arranging some special Christmas celebrations. There will be parties for the children at Incy Wincy's, 630 Club, Sunday school as well as the young people of the Buds, Growing Christians and Camp club. The Friends and Neighbours will be having a Dinner and a Carol Service. There will also be the Christmas Family Service this year on Sunday 21st December. Please pray for those who have invited friends to some of these events, some of whom don't go to a church service at any other time in the year.

Misson Focus

We had a look at impact of the Covenanters in Scotland and the sacrifice of so many in their faithfulness to the Lord Jesus Christ. If you would like to see the DVD please ask and it can be made available.

Christmas Giving

It is good to help others, so many thanks to everyone who once more participated in the “shoe box” appeal this year and also to Robert McCaig for organising it again.

A thank you also from Ray and Trixie for all who contributed so generously to help them be able give a gift to the many people they come in contact with.

Bible Teaching

At the Sunday evening service on the 21st Andy Adams who will be the speaker, will present a talk on the subject, “The Virgin Birth of Christ”. This is a very important truth in the Bible and a pivotal part of Christian doctrine and always under attack at this time of year. Come along and be encouraged.

Johnstone Journal

Please pray for the Christmas events coming up; Youth Club Pantomime, Ladies' Meal, After School Club & Toddlers' Parties and the Christmas Family Service on Sunday 21st.
